Om Catarina Player- Koro

My research interest is in the policy fields with a special interest in teacher education policy and practice (with a focus on mathematics teacher education and teachers professional knowledge) and in the field of educational technology.

My research ambition in relation to the field of educational technology is to continue to seek new empirical insights that will extend understanding and develop knowledge of what digital technology means both in and for education today. Of particular interest are the big hopes of school digitization that schools could improve their performance with IT-use; students’ learning results could improve, teaching could become more efficient, and the educational outcomes and processes more easily monitored that need to be critically investigated and examined.

In relation to my research in the field of teacher education policy, my interest concerns the conditions, processes and outcomes of teaching and learning for students at the mathematics teacher education together with research on teacher professional knowledge.

The focus for my PhD project is on student mathematics teachers learning to become teachers of mathematics. It has a particular focus on the materials (such as text-book, task formulations, examinations and technology) used in this, the meanings given to these materials and the identity produced through the possible embodiment of theses meanings. The thesis has an interdisciplinary approach and contributes to the research fields of teacher education, mathematics teaching and learning, use of educational technology as well as to the educational policy field.

• First Teachers of Mathematics - a study of the effects on education and development of mathematics education.
• Investigation of the influence of private actors on national policymaking in Sweden.
