About Miranda Rocksén

My research interest is to better understand the communication during teaching and learning, with a primary focus on the science subjects: biology, physics and chemistry. I work with analysing video-recordings made in classroom settings and in my research I seek to capture, map and better understand specific aspects of this interaction, for example communicative strategies, structures and patterns of activity. In my dissertation project I conducted a video-based study of 11 lessons of evolution in the subject Biology. The study contributes to understandings of a complex and dynamic classroom practice in which communicative activities, such as reasoning and explaining, are significant parts.

I work as an ambassadour for NATDID, which is a national centre  for the teaching and learning of the science subjects located in Linköping. Read more about NATDID here: liu.se/natdid

I teach in various courses for becoming teachers, mostly under the teaching and learning of science.
